Cantilever racking is perfect for heavy, awkward loads such as timber, metal bars, or various sheets of material that could otherwise be awkward to store on a standard pallet rack. The most limiting aspect of a pallet rack is the support columns, which if loaded, usually leaves a large amount of space wasted. The design of cantilever racks solves this problem. Since there are no columns obstructing the front of a cantilever rack bay, large loads can be delivered directly into an entire bay without obstruction.

How it’s built
It’s a pretty simple system which, in part, explains why it is so effective. It consists of vertical columns and base that extend outward from the floor so that the entire system does not tip, and then the arms which extend outward to carry the load. The arms simply clip to the columns and can be repositioned as necessary. Most people space them out and then forget about this option for years.
Single-sided racks are wall mounted and accessed from one side. Double-sided racks are placed on the warehouse floor and accessed from both sides. This configuration allows for approximately double the storage capacity. Aisle width impacts the calculations more than people expect. The way the equipment will be used also impacts rack choice. We incorporate everything and make precise assessments on how equipment will interact with racks to optimise use of space on the warehouse floor. We will usually analyse your warehouse layout and tell you which option is best, even if it’s not the option you would assume is the best from first glance.
Most long goods storage happens outdoors. We treat the steelwork with some protective galvanization. If you want to keep goods out of the elements, but don’t want to build a full warehouse, we can add a roof and side cladding onto the rack frame. This option is much less expensive than a full warehouse.
Racks are designed to handle user loads and we make sure that will never be a problem. Each arm and column is rated and we design to user loads. To help prevent unintended rack use, a load notice is attached to each arm. This helps reinforce the purpose and design of each rack section.
Why us?
Being honest, not much goes to buying cantilever the wrong way. There are numerous companies who sell arms and columns. What separates companies is the survey and install. Companies are expected to get their base fixings to the floor slab, make sure the arms are spaced with the correct products, and the handling equipment can reach the top beam. We do this and more, while also returning to inspect.
